Company News

Greg Parrent

Business Manager, Edmonton
27 Years with Layfield

Q: What inspired you to pursue your current role at Layfield?
During my time at Layfield, I have been fortunate enough to work in various departments, including field installation of geosynthetics. This experience has made me well-suited for sales and business development in our construction group. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with our clients, including owners, engineers, and contractors, to understand their project needs and offer effective solutions.

Q: Can you share a memorable experience or project that you’ve worked on during your time here?
Numerous remarkable experiences and projects have occurred throughout the years, making selecting just one difficult. I have been fortunate enough to travel all over Canada and certain parts of the US for work, which has allowed me to witness many different things. Due to their significant scale, visiting project sites such as Oil Sands is always exciting. Still, remote locations are particularly breathtaking and probably the most unforgettable.

Q: How do you stay motivated and maintain productivity in your day-to-day tasks?
I stay motivated through my positive client interactions and the camaraderie with my coworkers.

Q: What do you enjoy most about the company culture and working environment at Layfield?
A collaborative and supportive workplace is essential for fostering creativity and innovation. I appreciate a workplace that values open communication, recognizes hard work, and promotes a healthy work-life balance. Team-building activities and opportunities for professional development also contribute to a satisfying working environment. Ultimately, a company aligning with my values and goals can make my work experience more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Q: What hobbies or interests do you pursue outside of work that contribute to your personal and professional growth?
When I’m not working, I enjoy golfing and biking. I also help at my family’s grain farm and a friend’s horse ranch, which allows me to stay grounded and reconnect with my agricultural roots.
