What Success Looks Like at Layfield
Successful Plant Fabrication Apprentice Technicians at Layfield are self-motivated, highly disciplined, enthusiastic team players that are responsible for the proper set-up and operation of equipment. They are required to attain maximum levels of productivity, effectiveness, and quality in the performance of daily shift workload requirements while maintaining safety as a paramount.
Plant Fabrication Apprentice Technicians report directly to the Shift Lead Hand and indirectly to the Production Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Safety:
- Understand, support, and adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.
- Attend and participate in safety meetings.
- Complete risk assessment forms.
- Report any equipment or building damage to supervisors and/or safety team.
Production:
- Maximizes quality, production levels and efficiencies pertaining to all geosynthetic fabrication activities.
- Correctly sets ups, operates, maintains and lubricates all equipment.
- Contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the fabrication plant and their work area.
- Communicates with the Shift Lead Hand regarding deficiencies in both materials and equipment.
- Utilize Shine Dashboards and Flag System in accordance with production.
- Makes a positive contribution towards continuous improvement of teamwork and quality of workplace objectives.
Quality Control & Assurance:
- Ensure quality in production by following organizational standards and ISO9001-2015.
What we Look For
- Completion of grade 12.
- Previous experience in a plant or fabrication environment.
- Experience with basic hand tools and plastic fusion welders in particular.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Knowledge of Quality Program (ISO) and capable of accessing program information could be an asset.
- Previous forklift experience could be an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Willing or able to work night shifts.
- WHMIS Certificate.
