Position Description

What Success Looks Like at Layfield

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for safely performing facility and equipment upkeep activities such as: inspections, repairs, custodial tasks, fabrication projects, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will be skilled in the use of various hand/power tools as well as have a practical mindset, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work autonomously while adhering to all health and safety guidelines.

How You Will Lead

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and inspection of machinery.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, and repair or replace defective parts as needed.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure the longevity of machinery.
  • Support team and operations in maintaining, repairing, and constructing industrial machinery and fixtures.
  • Maintain operational stability with response to and completion of various mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance, and periodic equipment inspections.
  • Maintain cleanliness & functionality of exterior and interior including, replacement of light bulbs, installing/moving furniture, and snow shoveling(seasonal).
  • Additional duties as directed by supervisor.

What We Look For

  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in a Millwright or Apprentice Millwright position.
  • Experience with forklift operation and possessing valid certificates would be an asset.
  • Previous first aid experience is also an asset.
  • Completion of at least the first year of an accredited Millwright Apprentice program.
  • Possession of a current first aid certificate is an asset.
  • Some welding and fabrication experience would be beneficial.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and knowledge.
  • Ability to read diagrams and schematic drawings.
  • Effective communication skills for interfacing with customers and team members.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Able to lift items up to 50 lbs.

Salary Range:

$30.72 to $37.34 per hour, based on a 37.5 hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
