Position Description

What Success Looks Like at Layfield

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Laborer will be responsible for safely performing facility upkeep activities such as: minor building repairs, custodial tasks, assist with fabrication projects, equipment inspections, and preventative maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will be skilled in the use of various hand/power tools and work well in independent as well as team-based environments.

How You Will Lead

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Complete basic preventative maintenance and repair work orders as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness & functionality of exterior and interior including, replacement of light bulbs, installing/moving furniture, and snow shoveling(seasonal).
  • Assist Maintenance personnel with fabrication projects.
  • Additional duties as directed by supervisor.

What We Look For

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a maintenance or custodial position preferred.
  • Willingness to learn new things and work safely in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Fabrication and welding experience are considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Able to lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in various conditions, including shift work, overtime, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
  • Compliance with safety regulations and a strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Variety of work environments around the Edmonton Facility (Plant, outdoor, office).
  • Must be comfortable with wearing PPE for prolonged periods of time as well as working outside in winter conditions.

Salary Range:

$24.70 to $27.83 per hour, based on a 37.5 hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
