Rob Rempel
Vice President, USA, San Diego
14 years with Layfield
Q: How many years have you worked with Layfield?
My start date is Jan 4th, 2010! It took a few months, though, to get my Visa in place and move permanently to the US.
Q: Can you tell us about your current role and responsibilities?
I’m the Vice President of the US Geo Division, and my responsibilities encompass the financial performance and growth of the US Geo Division in relation to our strategic goals.
Q: What do you like about our company culture?
I like that Layfield is a family-owned company and the values that it has. I believe this longer-term outlook provides a more stable work environment and a happier employee base. I also like that Layfield has strong moral guidelines.
Q: Can you share a significant achievement or project you’ve worked on recently?
The R6 El Toro Reservoir project. This project was strategically bid and had several execution challenges; as a Team, we achieved spectacular results. I am very proud of the entire US Team for this accomplishment.
Q: What hobbies or interests do you have outside of work that people may not know about?
I have two boys, aged 10 and 7, who are very involved in Soccer and Baseball. I enjoy coaching where I can and supporting their teams. As a family, we also like to go to watch the Padres, Gulls, and soccer teams that come to San Diego.
